Vermillion

Vermillion – Also know as the Corporate World. On this planet the last of the Second Wave established an outpost. Vermilion, of all the Seven Worlds, was the most patronizingly industrial world. The rich red planet was referred to by out worlders as a corporate world, a term deeply resented by Vermilians. They considered themselves as the enlightened philanthropists of the other worlds, providing the capital for commercial ventures and exploratory expeditions into deeper space.

Their wealth was old wealth, based on the rich mineral deposits hidden under the planet's mantle. It was also the most densely populated. Although the limited amount of water had challenged even this wealthy world to keep pace with a burgeoning population there was none the less plenty to go around thanks to an aggressive infrastructure of recycling, reclamation and conversion plants. The massive conversion plants had been built at tremendous cost. Even the founders had not considered the power that could be wielded by those that controlled the supply to the most precious of human needs -- fresh water.

This red world had been the spawning grounds for the Corporate Uprising, fought generations earlier, - the largest of the corporations feeling the might of a presence on six planets. What they had not reckoned was the tenacity of Brauntame, with a lot of push from the Maxors. The balance of power was restored at an enormous cost in lives, money and precious resources. The planet had only recently recovered its productivity when the New Alliance replaced the Triad. This brought stability to the system
