General Katreean (Cat’- tree - ann) – The supreme commander of the Federal Forces, and distant second in absolute authority only to the Prime Maxor. His military career has been at the expense of countless greater or lesser rivals. He is a master at identifying, containing and eliminating his adversaries. Trained by the great Raoul Mengus, the rebel coup leader of the Cycarr Rebellion, he learned his venomous ways from the master of masters.
Katreean consolidated absolute power over the other six worlds by a series of swift victories over opposition forces after the assassination of Mengus, and concluded a settlement at the Concord of Percheron in which all other worlds pay tribute to Brauntame, and supply troops for its exclusive use. He assumed power from an interim government called the Triad, with which he had previously sworn allegiance. This was facilitated by the then secret elite special troops, the Stripe Troops. They enforce the strict discipline of Katreean's personal code, and reinforce the Maxors wishes.
He is served by a secret council know only as The Black Ring. This group of confidantes is believed to be only a sounding board for Katreean's schemes, although there are rumors that they hold some form of power over the megalomaniac. No one has ever seen a member of the Ring, nor is their existence officially acknowledged.
Katreean is not a large man but his presence is overpowering. He does not give political speeches, choosing to manipulate from the security of his fortified complex on Brauntame. There is an intense rivalry between planet forces and star pilots stirred by his fervent dislike of pilots of any kind. He views them as unavoidable to enforce his dominion, and provide transport for invading planet forces.
